Weekly photo challenge: My 2012 in pictures

Probably the best photo challenge ever. Why? Because it made me look through my photo archives from January, and I was lost in the process for around an hour, reminiscing about the year gone by.

So here goes – 12 of my most precious memories from 2012:

Mehndi (henna) design from my cousin’s wedding. Plus me dressing up in a saree (traditional Indian outfit) for the very first time.

February was probably the dullest month of 2012 for me. I honestly don’t remember anything particularly great/bad happening, so I’m going to use another memory from the summer instead πŸ˜€

After three years of focusing on engineering and work-related activities, I finally found the time to be a little socially active. I missed my girls! It was so great to be around each other again.

Swarnanjali – a golden tribute. The Indian Cultural Society’s final event of the academic year. The fantastic rangoli was designed by my friend, and this is a picture of the team committee after the event.

Spring Ball 2012. University’s Annual Dinner held aboard a cruise ship. And not just any cruise ship, but the SuperStar Libra. Honestly, it was probably the best send-off the class of 2012 could’ve ever gotten. So grateful to the juniors for organizing this!

Is it sad that all I did in May was to work on my final year thesis? Presenting my year’s hard work was the most enjoyable part of May – showing other students, invigilators and thesis graders just what I have been up to. Excuse the quality, I had an awful phone.

Visited two cities – Bangalore and Barcelona. I managed to meet up with my old primary school friends – we’ve known each other for over fifteen years now, and that’s not something everyone can boast about! Barcelona was about meeting new people, my future classmates. In a way June was perfect – maintaining old friendships while establishing new ones. Left – dinner in Barcelona. Right – dinner in Bangalore.

Graduation. Officially own a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Electronic and Computer Engineering. Proud moment for the family – especially for my father, who is also an engineer but was unable to attend his own graduation.

Visited three beautiful places. Top left – Hong Kong skyline. Bottom left – Taipa Island, Macau (the street full of big-shot casinos). Right – Penang trip with the boyfriend.

My first car. This is now my baby. I have officially as of today driven over 2000 miles.

I turned 22. One year older, one year wiser. Every year on your birthday, you get a chance to start anew. As Oprah Winfrey very sensibly put it, ‘the more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate’. Left – our obligatory family picture, and right – an unexpected surprise all the way from Thailand.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our three-year anniversary on 22 November. I made this collage as a remembrance of our time together over the last three years.

Getting inked for life was somewhat daunting at first, but I’m glad I did it. I wrote all about it in a separate entry (you can read about my experience here if you want), so its no surprise that this was my highlight of December.

So that’s my 2012 in pictures. See the Daily post here for more entries.

Happy New Year everyone! May you all have a wonderful end to 2012 and a lovely 2013.
